Celebrating New Beginnings: Lessons from 2024

As the year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the many new beginnings it brought. For me, this year was all about stepping into the unfamiliar, taking chances, and learning to embrace change with an open heart.

If you’d asked me a few years ago what I thought about change, I would’ve said I hated it and avoided it at all costs. And by “avoided,” I mean I would’ve run in the opposite direction while yelling, “Nope!” But life has a funny way of teaching us lessons we didn’t know we needed. This year, I’ve come to see change not as something to fear but as a chance to grow, evolve, and occasionally panic a little before remembering that I’m capable.

Starting a new career in real estate has been both exciting and challenging. Introducing myself to clients, learning the ropes in a competitive industry, and balancing work and family was daunting at first. And by “daunting,” I mean I may have had a few internal meltdowns, complete with dramatic hand-wringing and deep sighs. But I’ve realized that the best things come when we step out of our comfort zones.

At home, we’ve celebrated milestones and faced bittersweet moments. My oldest, Francesca, started 4th grade this year, and her intelligence, sass, and fierce independence inspire me daily. Isabelle, my 7-year-old, approaches each day with wonder and a deep curiosity about the world around her. Sebastian, at 3, is my little helper—always eager to lend a hand, whether it’s “helping” with chores or bringing me his favorite toys to play with.

This year also brought heartache as we said goodbye to our beloved dog, Gunner, who had been with us since 2008. Losing him was so hard, but his memory reminds us of unconditional love and the joy pets bring to our lives.

On the brighter side, I’ve loved becoming a homeroom mom for both Francesca and Isabelle. Navigating the dance world with my daughters has been its own adventure—glitter, costumes, and all! Each moment fills me with pride as I watch them grow in something they love.

Through it all, friendships and family have been my greatest source of strength. True friends lift us up, cheer us on, and remind us that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. Their support—whether through a heartfelt conversation, shared laughter, or commiserating over parenting fails—has made this year’s changes feel less overwhelming and so much more meaningful. My family, especially my husband, has been a rock, inspiring me daily with his hard work and dedication. He’s the guy who keeps the ship afloat, even when the water is a little choppy!

This year has taught me that new beginnings aren’t about being perfect. They’re about showing up, doing your best, and trusting the process (and maybe buying some extra coffee). Growth happens in the messy, unpolished moments, and that’s where life’s beauty truly shines.

As we step into a new year, take a moment to celebrate your own new beginnings—big or small, planned or unexpected. They’re all proof that you’re moving forward and growing.

The Evil Queen is absolutely terrifying! I mean, poor Snow White, right? She’s just over there minding her own business, trying to be the fairest of them all, and then here comes the Queen with all her stunning beauty and regal vibe, but we all know she’s really just deeply insecure and a bit on the manipulative side. And can we talk about those fancy robes? She is demanding her presence be known!

Undoubtedly, the Evil Queen’s residence would be an opulent mansion nestled in the lush hills of Beverly Hills, blending modern luxury with classic elegance. Its prestigious address reflects her insatiable desire for opulence and status, featuring a grand entrance and sweeping driveway that welcome esteemed guests to her realm of extravagance. The luxurious home is adorned with intricately carved grand archways, majestic towering ceilings with ornate chandeliers, and furnishings fit for royalty. The extravagant mansion features sprawling gardens, meticulously manicured lawns, serene water features, and opulent outdoor entertainment areas, all designed to captivate and enchant visitors. The mansion’s lavish ballroom hosts elaborate events, dazzling galas, and extravagant parties, mirroring the Queen’s love for grandeur and luxury. Of course, a large sweeping spiral staircase stands as a focal point, allowing her to descend dramatically, her opulent and exquisitely designed couture gowns billowing around her, leaving a lasting impression on all those in her presence.

Lady Tremaine in “Cinderella” is a dramatic character, driven by ambition and a strong desire for status. With her sharp features and stern expression, she creates turmoil in Cinderella’s life, favoring her own daughters, Anastasia and Drizella, and leaving Cinderella in a supporting role. Anastasia, with her red hair, appears forgetful, while Drizella, the sassy brunette, adds to Cinderella’s challenges. The sisters indulge in vanity and selfishness, supporting Lady Tremaine’s grand performance and leaving Cinderella to handle all the behind-the-scenes drama.

Where would this wicked trio live today? The answer is obvious: the Upper East Side! Lady Tremaine and her daughters would undoubtedly reside in a luxurious penthouse in this affluent Manhattan neighborhood, known for wealth, class, and cultural vibrancy. Their penthouse represents luxury and sophistication, situated in a prestigious building with panoramic views of Central Park and the city skyline. Guests would be offered the finest Champagne upon arrival, and the living room features plush velvet sofas, tasteful artwork, and a grand mahogany dining table for extravagant dinners. Both daughters have lavish bedrooms, with Anastasia’s featuring a floral theme and Drizella’s exuding sophistication with deep purple tones and modern decor. Lady Tremaine’s study is a sanctuary of antique books and a luxurious desk, with a terrace offering exquisite views and stylish seating areas.

Maleficent: Gothic-Inspired Mansion in France

Maleficent, the fashion icon of the fairy tale world, rocks a stunning pale green complexion, high cheekbones that could cut glass, and eyes that glow brighter than a shooting star. Always dressed to impress in flowing black or dark purple robes, and let’s not forget those fabulous bat-like wings. As for her vengeful schemes and malevolent nature, well, let’s just say they’re fueled by a healthy dose of pride and a passionate love affair with dark magic. She’s the envy of every aspiring villain out there!

Maleficent’s dream home is a gothic-inspired mansion nestled in the Loire Valley, France, with breathtaking views. Her favorite colors, including midnight black, blood red, and royal purple, would adorn every room. The architecture would feature subtle ornamental elements, evoking mystery and grandeur. Inside, elegance with a dark twist would be found in every corner, from the imposing staircase to the opulent chandeliers. Elegantly upholstered furniture and a grand ballroom with a vaulted ceiling complete the residence. Maleficent would enjoy the serenity of the twilight on her balcony with her favorite Mulled Wine and Charred Steak.

Ursula: Cliffside Villa in the Amalfi Coast

Oh, Ursula, the sea witch from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” is quite the showstopper! She has pale lavender skin, a voluminous upper body, and an octopus-like lower body with eight tentacles. Her intellect and magical prowess are used to satisfy her thirst for power and dominance over the ocean. Quite a character, that Ursula!

The color scheme inside would be black, white, red, and purple. You’d find lavish velvet drapes in deep shades of purple and black, along with nautical-themed trinkets. Where would we find this brute of a man? Look no further than Montana, USA! It’s Gaston’s perfect playground for his sprawling ranch, where he can hunt, ride horses, and do all sorts of manly stuff amidst stunning scenery. His modern-day ranch blends rugged outdoor living with a touch of luxury, reflecting his wild passion for the wilderness and his love for the American West. The property boasts sturdy wooden fences, lush pastures for grazing, and maybe a charming creek or pond. Inside, you’ll find exposed beams, cozy stone fireplaces, and big windows framing epic views. The kitchen’s got fancy gadgets and a farmhouse-style table for hearty feasts. Upstairs, the bedrooms are all woodsy chic with plaid and leather accents, each adorned with hunting trophies and vintage guns—because every room needs a touch of Gaston’s wild adventures!

`Jafar from “Aladdin” is tall, has a slender frame, an impressive beard, and a wicked personality. Dressed in black robes and a turban, he looks like he’s ready to star in a dark magician’s reboot of a classic movie. His ambition, cunning, and love for theatrical villainy are as impressive as his hypnotically arched eyebrows. He’s the type who might bring a snake to a tea party just to stir things up, all the while plotting to seize control of an entire kingdom with his magic staff and an evil laugh that could use a vacation.

Each guest visit is strategically organized to further his ambitions and strengthen his global influence. Guests are welcomed into a grand foyer with marble floors and intricate Arabian mosaics. Summer is just around the corner! Have you already planned out your next few months or do you prefer to take a different approach? I began to notice that everyone has their own unique way of spending summer break.

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the different summer personalities!

1. The Overplanner with FOMO  — This individual’s greatest worry is FOMO! To overcome this, they create a daily schedule with all their desired activities. This well-prepared person aims to maximize every moment of the summer by filling each day to the brim!

2. The one who goes with the flow- This individual lives by the motto “Everything is fine!” You aspire to have an amazing summer, but you’re content with not having every detail planned out. If you belong to this group, you might relish in spontaneous adventures and discovering activities as they unfold!

3. Procrastinator– This individual was under the impression that they had plenty of time before summer break arrived. However, now they are scrambling to find activities, camps, and events to participate in, desperately hoping that there are still spots available for them to sign up!

4. The Working Parent- This group understands the importance of survival and strives to find a harmonious balance between work and life. Their main objective is to ensure that their children have an amazing summer while also preserving their own sanity and job. Additionally, they actively seek out evening and weekend events to create lasting memories with their loved ones.

5. Water Enthusiast- If there’s no water involved, they’re not interested! This individual is all about spending summer by, near, or on the water!

6. Overstimulated Adult– Being a grown-up can be tough, and this individual definitely deserves a break! Maybe they’re feeling drained from not getting enough sunlight and attending too many meetings. Or perhaps they just need a break from hearing “Mommy” constantly throughout the day! Either way, they’re searching for ways to unwind and de-stress this summer!

7. Educational Junkie– This individual is extremely worried that their child will experience setbacks over the summer break, so they are determined to find various activities to keep their minds sharp!

10. Is the place dog friendly?– The first thing this person would want to know is whether they can bring their furry friend along! Being around animals brings so much joy and happiness to this individual!
