“She was out on her fanny. So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield’s door. She was there to sell make-up, but the father saw more. She had style! She had flair! She was there. That’s how she became the Nanny!”

The exquisite Manhattan townhome she encountered was a sight to behold, a luxurious abode that most people can only fantasize about. “Onward” is a really heartwarming movie and one of my husband’s favorites. It’s about two brothers who go on an amazing adventure to find their dad, who’s no longer around. The journey they go on shows how strong their bond is and how they learn important things about themselves and their family. The movie’s story is really magical and teaches us about love, loss, and how families stick together. It’s a movie that means a lot to both me and my husband.

Action Packed

Taken is a really great movie because this dad is not someone you want to mess with! It’s so exciting and intense, with lots of action and the main character never giving up. The bad guys are always chasing him, and he’s always trying to save his family. It’s a really awesome action movie and it shows how much a dad can do for his family.

🍩🎉 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩🎉 What an absolutely fabulous day to be alive!

Donuts, oh my goodness, they are just THE ultimate sweet treat! These incredible confections are definitely not one size fits all! Whether you’re a die-hard traditionalist who swears by glazed, or an adventurous spirit who dives into more inventive creations, there is undeniably something to tantalize every taste bud! 🍩✨

So, leave it up to me. I did my research, asked around and I’ve come up with a list of fantastic local delicious spots to give a try!

1. Northbrook Orchard- Apple Cider Donuts! 

I have to start off with a classic in the area! Northbrook Orchard is known for their fresh, apple cider donuts. 

An apple cider donut is an incredibly delightful treat made with apple cider and generously flavored with cinnamon and sugar. Its cake-like texture, slightly crispy exterior, and warm, comforting taste make it an absolute sensation for the taste buds!

2. Wanderlust Donuts- Vegan, Gluten Free and so much more!

Wanderlust Donuts located in Kennett Square has something for everyone! Here, they make donuts crafted with only the best ingredients! They have a “wanderful” variety and selection! 

Whether you’re a fan of vegan or gluten-free treats, this delightful spot is a must-visit for all the donut enthusiasts out there! I can’t wait to try out the irresistible lemon/raspberry crumble!

3. Rose’s Little Donuts- Kid and Adult Friendly Options!

Rose’s Little Donuts is a family-owned business bringing fresh donuts to the area! Rose’s offers a weekly rotation of approximately 9 delightful flavors.

Looking for a Kid-friendly options? Give the Fruity Pebbles donut a whirl! Picture a vanilla cake donut topped with colorful fruity pebbles, a treat that’s sure to bring joy to children and adults alike.I will definitely try the Mint Chocolate! It’s a vanilla cake donut with chocolate icing, dunked in Andes mints. Yes, please! 

4. Beiler’s Bakery in Westtown Amish Market 

Beiler’s is renowned for its high-quality, fresh donuts. Everything is made using the finest ingredients and traditional family recipes. They bake these delectable treats onsite, EVERY HOUR, for optimal freshness! 

Cream filled donuts are simply irresistible and my personal favorite! Beiler’s truly excels with its phenomenal variety! From the heavenly strawberry cream to the indulgent blueberry, they offer everything in between! It’s pure yumminess at its finest

First things first, I have to give a big shoutout to this amazing spot! Nestled in the cozy Village of Marshalltown is The Four Dog’s Tavern! This place is really special to me, from celebrating the end of student teaching with my Dad to having cozy Valentine’s dinners with my loved ones. It never fails to impress!

How about trying this enticing cocktail…The Spicy Hound! It features stateside vodka, grapefruit juice, jalapeno simple syrup, lime and club soda. 

2.  Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen- The Blackberry Lemon Crush 

Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen Don’t miss out on rooftop dining at this spot! Relax in the summer breeze while taking in the views of Historic Kennett Square. As a cocktail lover, I was thrilled to discover their extensive menu, filled with unique drink options.

The concoction I’ll be giving a go is The Blackberry Lemon Crush. This delightful cocktail combines the zesty flavor of freshly squeezed lemon with the sweetness of blackberries, dragonberry rum, and a splash of sprite!

3. Sovana Bistro- You Wouldn’t Understand 

Craving some mouthwatering local and seasonal fare? Sovana Bistro is the place to be! Their menu offers a modern twist on nostalgic dishes, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. And don’t miss out on their expertly mixed cocktails and mocktails, featuring a delightful array of flavors!

You Wouldn’t Understand drink is on my list to try out! It features vodka, grapefruit liqueur, bitter rhubarb apertivo, and fresh orange & lemon.

4. The Whip Tavern- Alcoholic Ginger Beer 

Craving a different atmosphere? Immerse yourself in the English culture and spice up your life with a visit to The Whip Tavern! Discover the joy of savoring a pint of our delectable beer on tap, or embrace the spirit of adventure and try something new! 

I’ll be sipping on John Crabbie & Co Alcoholic Ginger Beer! This was my mom’s go-to drink when we came here for my birthday lunch! With its unique flavor, this ginger beer is a super refreshing choice that’s perfect for the summer!

5. The Haven Social (BYOB) -THE ONE WITH SORBET

Discover the charm of The Haven Social, located in Landenberg. Curious about BYOB? Why here? This cool new spot serves up delicious mocktails and even suggests which alcohol to add! So, pick your poison and whip up a tasty drink!

I can’t wait to give THE ONE WITH SORBET a try! It’s a delightful combination of Agave, Pineapple, Fresh Lime, OJ, Ginger Beer, and Raspberry Sorbet. You can pair it with vodka, rum, or tequila for an extra kick. 

BONUS RECIPE- Strawberry Mint Sangria

Alright, I hear you loud and clear! Some people just want to kick back in the comfort of their own cozy abode – and who can blame them? For those pals who love whipping up a scrumptious beverage, I’ve got a fantastic recipe waiting for you below!

White wine gets a flavor boost with strawberries, mint, and lemon in this sangria. It’s a delightful combination of tart, sweet, and refreshing notes. The strawberry flavor is front and center, with sliced strawberries and a strawberry mint syrup creating a lovely pink shade in the glass.

Summer is just around the corner! Have you already planned out your next few months or do you prefer to take a different approach? I began to notice that everyone has their own unique way of spending summer break.

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the different summer personalities!

1. The Overplanner with FOMO  — This individual’s greatest worry is FOMO! To overcome this, they create a daily schedule with all their desired activities. This well-prepared person aims to maximize every moment of the summer by filling each day to the brim!

2. The one who goes with the flow- This individual lives by the motto “Everything is fine!” You aspire to have an amazing summer, but you’re content with not having every detail planned out. If you belong to this group, you might relish in spontaneous adventures and discovering activities as they unfold!

3. Procrastinator– This individual was under the impression that they had plenty of time before summer break arrived. However, now they are scrambling to find activities, camps, and events to participate in, desperately hoping that there are still spots available for them to sign up!

4. The Working Parent- This group understands the importance of survival and strives to find a harmonious balance between work and life. Their main objective is to ensure that their children have an amazing summer while also preserving their own sanity and job. Additionally, they actively seek out evening and weekend events to create lasting memories with their loved ones.

5. Water Enthusiast- If there’s no water involved, they’re not interested! This individual is all about spending summer by, near, or on the water!

6. Overstimulated Adult– Being a grown-up can be tough, and this individual definitely deserves a break! Maybe they’re feeling drained from not getting enough sunlight and attending too many meetings. Or perhaps they just need a break from hearing “Mommy” constantly throughout the day! Either way, they’re searching for ways to unwind and de-stress this summer!

7. Educational Junkie– This individual is extremely worried that their child will experience setbacks over the summer break, so they are determined to find various activities to keep their minds sharp!

8. Nature Lover- Couch potatoes need not apply! This group is all about getting outside, soaking up nature, and experiencing all it has to offer! They relish every moment of the sunny summer weather!

9. The Foodie– Food is the heart and soul of this gang! They’re always up for trying out new food and drinks! Food trucks are a must-visit! Wine tasting? Sign them up!

10. Is the place dog friendly?– The first thing this person would want to know is whether they can bring their furry friend along! Being around animals brings so much joy and happiness to this individual!
